Make Hay while the Sun Shines

Spring has sprung and there is definitely a sense of happiness in the air. While it is still very cold (snow is forecast again this week) we are beginning to notice some slight shifts in the bustle in the streets, flowers sprouting in the garden beds and the blue sky days becoming more frequent.

In the last couple of days, while Cody and I had stacks of work to do we decided to make the most of the sunshine and go out for a little explore.

On Friday we decided to hit up Potsdamer Platz for a coffee in the sunshine (true European style) however the tall buildings meant pretty much every cafe was in the shade. We opted to get our caffeine fix in a nice little cafe with a not so nice name…. Balzac. After a few chucklesΒ we ventured on in. Yes, my salted caramel latte was delish! Cody and I had a really nice chat about what the next couple of years has install and where else we see ourselves heading once we return home. Our plans tend to change rapidly so we will keep this on the down low for now.

The best part of the day was simply riding our bikes through the streets and feeling the warmth of the sun on our backs through our many layers of clothing. When the sun was on our faces it felt even better.

Yesterday Cody and I explored the streets of Dresden, Germany. With its…colourful history it sure did make for some incredible sites. The buildings were exquisite and it was movingΒ to see the blackened buildings from the historical fire bombings in 1944-1945. It’s unbelievable to even imagine the destruction that once was, in such a beautiful city. They have done an amazing job at restoring the exteriors of these historic buildings and now it is a bustling tourist destination.

While walking around and marvelling in the beauty of the buildings, most of the enjoyment came from cafe hopping and brotwurst stand dining! The food was all so yummy and the coffees kept us buzzing. Our last stop before we had to head back to the Bus Bahnof was the Lindt Cafe. We loaded up on our favourite treats for our two hour journey home.

Now that we have gotten our fix of sunshine and activities we can focus on the busy work week ahead. We realised we have actually been in our Tiergarten apartment for one month this week… time is absolutely flying past and doesn’t show signs of slowing down any time soon.

Enjoy some of the photos!

Yours,

T xx
